Soveltamisala Standardin ISO 17660 tätä osaa sovelletaan hitsattavasta betoniteräksestä ja ruostumattomasta betoniteräksestä hitsatta-viin voimaliitoksiin, jotka hitsataan joko tehtaassa tai rakennuspaikalla. Standardissa annetaan materiaaleja, hitsausliitos-ten suunnittelua ja hitsausta, hitsaushenkilöstöä, laatuvaatimuksia, tarkastusta sekä testausta koskevat vaatimukset.Standardin ISO 17660 tämä osa koskee myös betoniterästankojen ja muiden teräsosien välisiä hitsausliitoksia kuten liitos-kappaleita ja tartunta-ankkureita, mukaan lukien esivalmistetut raudoitteet. Standardi ISO 17660-2 koskee kiinnitysliitoksia.Standardin ISO 17660 tämä osa ei koske raudoitusverkkojen ja ansaspalkkien tehdasmaista valmistusta monipistehitsaus-koneilla tai monikäsnähitsauskoneilla.Standardin ISO 17660 tämän osan vaatimuksia sovelletaan vain staattisesti kuormitettuihin rakenteisiin.HUOM. Väsytyskuormitettuihin rakenteisiin suositellaan liitosmuodosta ja hitsausprosessista riippuen käytettäväksi sopivasti pienennettyä betoni-teräksen väsymislujuuden arvoa
