1 Soveltamisala Tässä kansainvälisessä standardissa esitetään säännöt, jotka koskevat pinnan ominaisuuksien ilmoittamista teknisissä tuoteasiakirjoissa (esim. piirustuksissa, määrittelyissä, sopimuksissa, raporteissa) graafisten tunnusten ja tekstimerkintöjen avulla. Standardia sovelletaan ilmaistaessa pintaa koskevia vaatimuksia käyttäen a) standardin ISO 4287 mukaisia profiilisuureita, jotka liittyvät: — R-profiiliin (karheussuureet), — W-profiiliin (aaltomaisuussuureet) ja — P-profiiliin (rakennesuureet), b) standardin ISO 12085 mukaisia motiivisuureita, jotka liittyvät: — karheussuureisiin, ja — aaltomaisuussuureisiin c) standardien ISO 13565-2 ja ISO 13565-3 mukaiseen pinnan kantavuutta kuvaavaan käyrään liittyviä suureita. HUOM. Sellaisten pintavirheiden, joita ei voida määritellä pintasuureita käyttäen (huokoset, naarmut jne.), ilmoittamisen osalta viitataan standardiin ISO 8785, jossa käsitellään pintavirheet.
